Sealing element energiser
Instant fillup & circulation
Mudloc mudsaver valve prevents spillage
Single connection to top drive
The SDT MUD-STINGER (patent pending) incorporates the patented "MUDLOC" mudsaver valve to prevent spillage on and around the rig floor.
The "MUD-STINGER" permits casing fillup and circulation of the well at any time, helping to avoid stuck pipe problems before they happen.
The sealing element energiser ensures positive sealing of the circulating annulus.

MUD-STINGER OPERATION

PRE RIG-UP PROCEDURE

  1. First, check that the seal cup, (pt.no.: 7) is the correct O.D. to suit the casing weight to be run. (Each cup is labelled).
  2. Check that all three (3) Allen Screws (pt.no.: 2) are tight.
  3. After making up to top-drive, kick in circulating pump and check that the mudloc Mud-Saver is working correctly.
  4. Check that the Seal Cup, (pt.no.: 7) is at least level with the bottom of the elevator, this will ensure that the cup is well inside the casing and below the coupling.

SERVICING PROCEDURE

  1. Back-out the three (3) Allen screws, (pt.no.: 2) approx. 1/2"
  2. Back off the Bull-Nose Sub, (pt.no.: 10) using a chain tong on the retainer sub, (pt. no.: 1) and another on the Bull-Nose. Separate and remove the Seal Cup, (pt.no.: 7) and the Compression Spring, (pt.no.: 8).
  3. Clean and lubricate the Mandrel, (pt.no.: 6) and replace the Compression Spring and new Seal Cup.
  4. Check the O' Ring, (pt.no.: 3) and replace if required, remake the the connection using chain tongs, remove one Allen Screw and ensure the Allen Screw groove is in the correct position before re-tightening the three (3) Allen Lock Screws.
  5. Should the PIston Seals, (pt.no.: 4 & pt.no: 9) - Fail, carry out steps 1 & 2 above and remove Piston, (pt.no.: 5), clean and lubricate the area. Replace O' Rings and re-assemble.

TO SERVICE MUDLOC MUD-SAVER VALVE (Refer to "Mudloc" Manual)
